In an unprecedented year, with families dealing with covid19 and many losing jobs and struggling to provide for their children, we were able to help over 100 children and their families from our local community from low income households, including deaf and hard of hearing preschool children .
We employed covid safety measures including temperature checks at the door, assigned family tables, masks, and social distancing. The joy in the eyes of the children was undeniable and the excitement in the room could not be contained!
This year every child ages 0-6 received a new blanket, hat & gloves, Christmas pjs & socks, a book, and 2 toys. All children who wanted to participate made their own take-home Christmas ornament and received toddler-safe removable Christmas tattoos. Through event drawings, 20 children received brand new toddler bikes and 10 children received brand new scooters. Older siblings also participated in drawings for fun, age-appropriate gifts. Each parent/guardian received gift baskets filled with wonderful gifts and gift cards thanks to the generosity of many local businesses.
We are so grateful to the local businesses in our community, friends, and family who so generously and selflessly gave of their resources, time, and love to benefit those going through a difficult season in their lives. THANK YOU!!! It it so true that it is better to give than to receive!
“If you are generous with the hungry and start giving yourselves to the down-and-out, your lives will begin to glow in the darkness, your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight.”
